Fort Wayne Mad Ants Announce 2nd Annual Local Player Tryouts
2008-09 Mad Ants Open Tryouts

Fort Wayne, IN., August 20, 2008 – Do you think you have what it takes to be a Mad Ant? If so, you don’t want to miss tryouts for the NBA D-League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Local player tryouts will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 27 and 28, 2008 at Wambsganss Gymnasium on the Concordia Theological Seminary Campus located at 6600 N Clinton St, Fort Wayne, IN, 46825. Check-in and late registration will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 27th, with tryouts beginning promptly at 10:00 AM and lasting until 6:00 PM. Please bring a photo I.D. with you for the registration process.

The Mad Ants local player tryouts offer athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants’ coaching staff, including head coach Jaren Jackson and assistant Doug Noll. Players will compete to earn an invitation to the team’s training camp, which will begin in early November.

Last year, four players from the 2007-08 open tryouts found a spot on the Mad Ants roster. Open tryout competitors Ron Howard, Eric Smith, Nate Gerwig, and Anthony Kyle all played significant roles for the Mad Ants in their first season. Applicants must pre-register by submitting the official registration, disclosure and release forms, in addition to a $150 non-refundable fee by September 24, 2008. The fee for day of registration will be $200. Payments must be made by money order or cashier’s check. Application forms are available at www.fortwaynehoops.com.

The Mad Ants led the D-league in attendance last season including a crowd of 7,300 on opening night at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. The Mad Ants hope to duplicate that in their sophomore which will kick off on Friday, November 28.
