"Whiplash" Makes Debut

"Whiplash” is the newest member of the Erie BayHawks in-game entertainment group. The female, whip-wielding character debuted in front of over 3,500 fans at Erie Insurance Arena on Saturday, January 12.

Following her twirling grand entrance from a lira, suspended from the Erie Insurance Arena ceiling, Whiplash participated in several in-game promotions and scanned the crowd to interact with fans throughout the night.

“We believe this type of entertainer is very unique in professional sports. Not many teams feature a female character, especially one who can interact with fans. Whiplash will be a great addition to our game night entertainment and serve as a useful community relations tool for our team” said team president Matt Bresee.

Whiplash dons a fitted black, white and red costume and is armed with a digital camera which she uses to take photos with fans throughout the game. Fans are also encouraged to post their own photos on Whiplash’s Facebook page for a chance to win tickets to upcoming games. She will be a consistent fixture during BayHawks home games and will also be available for community appearances.

The arrival of Whiplash highlights the BayHawks continued progress of improving their fans’ experience. Following last season’s release of the inflatable “Super Clutch”, the team has also introduced the hip-hop break dancing team “BayHawks Breakers” and “Bubba’s Buds,” a dance troupe featuring the Erie General Electric Federal Credit Union Super Fan, BubbaLuv.
