Team remains active in the community during holidays
Erie, Pennsylvania, Wednesday, December 8 – Erie BayHawks players, staff, and “Clutch” the mascot, are joining numerous community partners in an effort to make a difference in the lives of children and families this holiday season. The effort is part of the NBA D-League Cares “Season of Giving” initiative.
“It’s important that we play our part in lending a hand during the holidays,” said team president Matt Bresee. “We appreciate the support we get from the community and we’re excited about being able to help so many worthy causes that make Erie such a great place to live.”
The highlight of the month’s activities includes partnering with the City Mission to host “Christmas Dinner with the BayHawks” on December 22. The full schedule of the BayHawks’ “Season of Giving” initiatives are as follows:
December 4: The team provided two free tickets to everyone who donated a gift to Toys for Tots at an event held at the Veteran’s Hospital. “Clutch” was also on-hand to entertain and thank those who contributed.
December 10-11: All City of Erie elementary students are receiving an offer for two free tickets to either game this weekend as part of the team’s Big Assist program, in partnership with Highmark and other corporate partners.
December 10: Families of the Highmark Caring Place, the Barber National Institute and volunteers from Big Brothers Big Sisters have been invited to attend Friday’s game free of charge.
December 11: BayHawks players played wheelchair basketball with members of the Achievement Center’s Junior Wheelchair Basketball Team last Wednesday. The Achievement Center’s team, along with other Achievement Center member families, will be guests of the team at Saturday’s game and the Junior Wheelchair team will be recognized at halftime.
December 14: Donors who make contributions to the City Mission’s annual one-day telethon will qualify to receive two free tickets to an upcoming BayHawks game.
December 15-19: Contributors to the annual Make-A-Wish Light up a Child’s Life campaign will receive two free tickets to an upcoming game and “Clutch” will appear at the Make-A-Wish booth at the Millcreek Mall on December 18.
December 22: “Christmas Dinner with the BayHawks,” runs 11 am to 1 pm at the Mission’s 11th and French Street location. The entire team and staff will serve and share a holiday meal with the guests.
December 27: Thirty children from Family Services foster program will attend the team’s shoot-around in the morning to meet the team and get autographs and will be guests of the team at that night’s game.
December 28: Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) will raise money via a ticket fundraiser with the BayHawks when fans redeem a special RMHC coupon available at any area McDonald’s restaurant.
