NEW YORK, March 31, 2010 – The Washington Wizards today signed guard Cedric Jackson of the Erie BayHawks making him 32nd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League season. Jackson rejoins the NBA following GATORADE Call-Ups to the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs earlier this season. He joins 77 NBA players with NBA D-League experience.
Jackson has appeared in 34 games (24 starts) for Erie this season, averaging 16.4 points, 7.4 assists and 5.6 rebounds in 33.3 minutes. He has scored in double figures 26 times and registered nine double-doubles, including a season-high 34 points to go with 13 assists on Jan. 19, in a 121-113 road loss to the Austin Toros.
During his previous two stints in the NBA this season, Jackson appeared in eight combined games with Cleveland and San Antonio, scoring eight points, dishing out eight assists and pulling down five rebounds in 35 minutes.
As a senior at Cleveland State in 2009, the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder was named the 2009 Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Horizon League Second Team. In two seasons with the Vikings, he averaged 12.3 points on .405 shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.8 steals in 32.2 minutes.
Jackson is expected to join the Wizards today and be available when Washington travels to face the New Orleans Hornets at New Orleans Arena tonight.
