NEW YORK, March 10, 2010 – The San Antonio Spurs today signed guard Cedric Jackson of the Erie BayHawks today making him 22nd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League season. Jackson re-joins the NBA following a GATORADE Call-Up to the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this season and becomes the third Spur with NBA D-League experience.
Jackson has appeared in 30 games, 21 starts, for Erie this season, averaging 15.8 points, 7.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 32.7 minutes. He has scored in double figures 21 times and registered five double-doubles, including a season-high 34 points to go with 13 assists on Jan. 19, in a 121-113 road loss to the Austin Toros.
During his first GATORADE call-up, Jackson played nine minutes in five games with the Cavaliers between Jan. 23 - Feb. 12.
As a senior at Cleveland State in 2009, the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder was named the 2009 Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Horizon League Second Team. In two seasons with the Vikings, he averaged 12.3 points on .405 shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.8 steals in 32.2 minutes.
Jackson is expected to join the Spurs today and be available when San Antonio hosts the New York Knicks at Quicken Loans Arena tonight.
