NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2010 – The Cleveland Cavaliers today signed guard Cedric Jackson of the Erie BayHawks today making him ninth GATORADE Call-Up of the 2009-10 NBA Development League season. Jackson’s call-up increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience to 70.
Jackson has appeared in 23 games for Erie this season (14 starts) and is averaging 14.7 points, 7.6 assists, 4.6 rebounds in 31.6 minutes. He has scored in double-figures 15 times and registered five double-doubles including season-highs in points (34) and assists (13) on Jan. 19 in a 121-113 road loss to the Austin Toros.
As a senior at Cleveland State in 2009, the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder was named 2009 Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Horizon League Second Team. In two seasons with the Vikings, he had career averages of 12.3 points on .405 shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.8 steals in 32.2 minutes per game.
Jackson is expected to join the Cavaliers today and be available when Cleveland hosts the Oklahoma City Thunder at Quicken Loans Arena tonight.
