Eight BayHawks to Participate in Summer Leagues

After a one year hiatus, the NBA Summer League has resumed play in both Orlando and Las Vegas. Rosters are filled with players who are looking for a shot at an NBA training camp roster, many of them from the NBA Development League. Through the BayHawks affiliation with the New York Knicks, Erie’s Kyle Goldcamp and Mychel Thompson will both participate with the Knicks in the Las Vegas Summer League from July 14-20.

Goldcamp and Thompson will receive tutelage from Knicks head coach, Mike Woodson as well as other Knicks assistants. They make up part of the 15 player roster that will compete at Cox Pavilion on the campus of University of Nevada – Las Vegas.

To date, eight current or former BayHawks have signed to play in either the Orlando or Las Vegas Summer League. Darnell Jackson and Garrett Temple (Oklahoma City) as well as Blake Ahearn (Utah) are participating in Orlando, which concludes on July 13.

D.J. Kennedy, Donald Sloan and Temple (Cleveland) will join Goldcamp and Thompson in Las Vegas next week. Chris Daniels will also participate in Las Vegas on the NBA D-League Select Team, which is comprised of various players from around the D-League.

The 2012 Summer League is comprised of an all-time high 23 NBA teams and the D-League Select team. Teams feature rookies, second year players and select free agents who look to garner attention from NBA scouts and coaches. Summer League games will be shown on NBA TV and Knicks games will be broadcast on MSG Network.
