Players interested in participating in the free agent tryout can get registration forms online at ErieBayhawks.com. A registration fee of $175 (U.S. Funds), in the form of a money order or cashier’s check payable to the Erie BayHawks must accompany the completed forms and be received by October 28, 2009. For all registrations received after October 28 and at the first day of tryouts the fee will be $200 (U. S. Funds).

“We are excited about our new affiliation with the Raptors,” said BayHawks head coach John Treloar. “With this being the only NBA Development League tryout held in Canada this season, we expect a strong turnout.”

Space for the tryouts is limited, interested participants should register early to guarantee their place. Hopefuls should arrive prepared to participate in team drills, individual skills work and scrimmages. BayHawks coaches and staffers will be on hand for player evaluations.

NBA Development League

The NBA Development League, founded in 2001, is the NBA’s official minor league and featured 16 teams with direct affiliations to NBA teams during the 2008-09 season. This Fall, two new NBA D-League teams will begin play in Portland, Maine and Springfield, Mass.-- the birthplace of basketball. Eighty-four former NBA Development League players were on 2008-09 NBA end-of-season rosters, amounting to almost 20 percent of NBA players, and the league continues to develop coaches, referees, and front office staff for the NBA and its teams.
