BayHawks Fans will “Join the Flock” to Fight Breast Cancer

First 2,000 fans at Sunday’s playoff game to receive pink rally towels

Erie, Pennsylvania, Thursday, April 7, 2011 – The Erie BayHawks are using their first-ever home playoff game to raise awareness and funds to support breast cancer research.

The BayHawks have partnered with the American Cancer Society and Erie Cotton Products to provide commemorative “Join the Flock” pink rally towels to the first 2,000 fans at Sunday’s game versus the Reno Bighorns. The game is the first of a best-of-three game series with doors opening at 4 pm and tipoff set for 5 pm.

“We wanted to take advantage of the excitement of our first-ever home playoff game to also raise awareness and funds to support such a serious issue,” said BayHawks team president Matt Bresee. “‘Join the flock’ is a phrase we use to promote a spirit of togetherness to support the team, but it’s also fitting that we get our fans to rally around the effort of beating this disease.”

At Sunday’s game fans will also have the chance to donate to the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life fundraising efforts and get information about how they can be part of an upcoming Relay for Life event.

Tickets for Sunday’s playoff game can be purchased by visiting the Tullio Arena box office, calling 452-4857 or online at ticketmaster.com.
