BayHawks Announce Returning Players, Training Camp Invites

The Erie BayHawks, presented by LECOM, announced seven players set to arrive in Erie next week for the start of the teamís Training Camp. Among them are four returning players: Blake Ahearn, Kyle Goldcamp, Kyle Spain and Chaz McCrommon, and three invites from the teamís free agent tryouts: D.J. Kennedy, Marvin Roberts and Kayode Ayeni.

Ahearn (6-2, 180) arrives back in Erie fresh from the Pan American games in Guadalajara, Mexico where he helped Team USA bring home the bronze medal. Ahearn, a guard, appeared in 31 games for the BayHawks last season and averaged 16.9 points, 5.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds. Ahearn again lead the league in free throw percentage connecting on 150 of 156 attempts good for 96.2%. This marks Ahearnís fifth NBA Development League season.

Goldcamp, (6-10, 230) a forward, and graduate of Gannon University, has played the last two seasons with Erie appearing in 77 games (30 starts) and averaging 4.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Spain (6-5, 210) a guard from San Diego State, was Erieís second round selection in the 2010 NBA D-League Draft and appeared in 44 games (17 starts) for the BayHawks last season averaging 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

McCrommon (6-6, 200) is a native of Pittsburgh and played four years at Robert Morris where as a senior in 2004-05 he averaged 16.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Colonials. Last season he joined the BayHawks on the last day of the regular season acquired via the leagueís available player pool.

Kennedy (6-5, 214) is a product of St. Johnís University where played both the guard and forward position. Kennedy averaged 10.7 points and 5.7 rebounds for the Red Storm during his senior season last year prior to tearing his ACL in the Big East Tournament. He is a native of Pittsburgh and attended Schenley High School.

Roberts (6-5, 210) played the guard position for two seasons at Florida International University under head coach Isiah Thomas where during his senior year he averaged 13.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Ayeni (6-5, 180), a forward from Saint Francis College (NY) averaged 9.7 points and 4.8 rebounds during his senior season in 2009-10. Last season Ayeni played with the Jersey Express of the American Basketball Association (ABA).

The BayHawks will fill out their remaining Training Camp roster during Thursdayís NBA Development League Draft in which Erie holds nine picks including the #7 and #9 overall selections (#9 selection is Idaho Stampedeís pick acquired via trade for Cedric Jackson last season).

The BayHawks open Training Camp on November 10 at the LECOM Medical Fitness & Wellness Center.

Erieís first home game this season is set for Thursday, December 1 at 7:00 pm at the Tullio Arena when the BayHawks face the Maine Red Claws. Season tickets and group tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 814-790-5600.
