Players From Dazzle and Flame Dominate All-NBDL First Team Selections

NBDL Announces 2004-05 All-League Selections

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 28 - The entire 2004-05 All-NBDL first team consists of players from two teams, as selected by a vote of the NBA Development League's six head coaches. The Roanoke Dazzle placed three players on the first-team unit, while two members of the Florida Flame round out the top five vote getters.

Guards Matt Carroll and Cory Alexander, both now playing with the Charlotte Bobcats, along with the NBDL's leading scorer, forward Isiah Victor, comprise Roanoke's selections to the All- NBDL first team. Forward Kirk Haston and center Hiram Fuller of Florida round out the coaches' picks for the first team.

The All-NBDL second team consists of three forwards and three guards. James Thomas of Roanoke, Ron Slay of Asheville and Damone Brown of Huntsville (now with the Washington Wizards) hold down the forward spots. The second team guards are Omar Cook and David Young of Fayetteville, along with Derrick Zimmerman of Columbus.

"Our coaches did a great job of coming up with the All-NBDL first and second teams given the abundance of talent in the league," NBDL Director of Basketball Operations Chris Alpert said. "All the players, first and second team selections, as well as honorable mention choices, had exceptional seasons."

Players earning All-NBDL Honorable Mention include guards Carl English (Florida), Kirk Penney (Asheville) and Lenny Stokes (Asheville); forwards Scott Merritt (Columbus), Reed Rawlings (Columbus), Terrence Shannon (Asheville) Tang Hamilton (Fayetteville) and Rodney Bias (Huntsville); centers Mike Benton (Columbus) and Earl Barron (Huntsville).

Roanoke, Asheville and Columbus had four all-league selections each, including first, second and honorable mention. Florida, Huntsville and Fayetteville had three apiece.
