Tom Wagganer, General Manager Tom Wagganer was named general manager of the Dakota Wizards on September 13, 2006, marking his second stint at the helm of an NBA Development League team. Before taking a position with the Tulsa 66ers, Wagganer served as team president for the Huntsville Flight. Most recently the vice president of sales for the Tulsa 66ers of the D-League, Wagganer brings almost a decade of minor league basketball experience to the Wizards. A native of St. Louis, Mo. and a 1997 graduate of the University of Kansas, he has been involved in the D-League since it’s inception in 2001. After serving as the assistant general manager with the back-to-back International Basketball League champion St. Louis Swarm from 1998 to 2001, Wagganer, started in the D-League, as the ticket sales manager and senior manager of sales and marketing with the Flight until August of 2003. After a five month stint with the Sacramento Kings of the NBA from August until December of 2003, Wagganer returned to the D-League as the team president of the Flight in January 2004 and remained in that position until the team was relocated to Albuquerque, N.M. prior to the 2005-06 season. Following the restructuring of the league, Wagganer joined the 66ers staff in Tulsa. A common thread in Wagganer’s career is that he has led the D-League in some aspect of ticket sales in every market he was involved in. Wagganer is single and lives in Bismarck. |
