Bismarck, N.D., February 28, 2007 – The Dakota Wizards announced this evening that they have acquired 6’10 forward Darius Rice from the available player pool.
Rice appeared in two pre-season games for the Miami Heat this season, averaging 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 16 minutes of action before heading to China. Rice played for the Florida Flame in the NBA Development League during the 2004 –05 season averaging 10.5 points 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists a game.
A college standout at the University of Miami, Rice finished his college career fourth on the schools all-time scoring list (1865 points) averaging 16.1 points and 5.7 rebounds during his collegiate career.
Rice, will wear jersey number 21 when he meets up with the team in Sioux Falls for a match up with the Skyforce on Thursday evening March 1, 2007 at 7pm CST.
Rice replaces guard Curtis Stinson who was waived.
