NEW YORK, Dec. 28, 2012 – The Cleveland Cavaliers today assigned center Samardo Samuels to the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers’ NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment is the record 82nd of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, and is the first for Samuels this year. He is one of 44 NBA players who’ve been assigned to the NBA D-League this season.
Samuels (6-9, 260, Louisville) has appeared in 18 games for the Cavaliers this season, averaging 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game.
Undrafted out of Louisville in 2010, Samuels signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Aug. 17, 2010. Samuels played two seasons at Louisville, averaging 15.3 points and 7.0 rebounds during the 2009-10 campaign.
Samuels will join the Charge today and be available tonight when the team hosts the Tulsa 66ers.
