LOWGATORS IN THE COMMUNITY
The Lowgators believe it is important to be a part of the Charleston Community. Just completing their third season in the NBDL, the Lowgators enjoy spending time with both adults and kids and are involved in many business and school programs and functions.
Although the season is over, the Lowgators have a very busy summer. Check below to find out where the Lowgators will be!
Recently, Rico Hill, Jason Miskiri, Karim Shabazz, Rolan Roberts and Alpha Bangura teamed up with Volvo and Star 99.7 to hold a basketball clinic at St. Andrews Parks and Playgrounds. About 50 kids enjoyed getting hands-on instruction from the participating Lowgators players and even got to play in some pick-up games. The players also talked to the kids about reaching for high goals on and off the basketball court.
Shabazz said, "It was great getting out there with the kids, but my main message was to let them know they need to excel in the classroom. Just passing does not cut it anymore. It's important to do the best you can."
Roberts agreed, "Education is important because you can't play basketball forever. The kids were great though, we had a good time. Some of them were pretty good, who knows? We might have seen a future Lowgator."
Being involved in the community is an important part of the Lowgators team and staff. You are invited to join the Lowgators at all community events throughout the year!
