Charge Make Roster Moves
The Canton Charge have made multiple roster moves through two separate trades, the team announced today. Canton sent center Assane Sene and forward Vernon Lewis to the Texas Legends in exchange for guard Marcus Simmons. The Charge also signed guard Dar Tucker as a returning player from the New Mexico franchise and sent his rights to the Reno Bighorns in exchange for forward Alex Ruoff and center Arinze Onuaku.
Ruoff (6’6”, 220, West Virginia) was selected in the 2nd round (28th overall) in last Friday’s draft. In 127 career games with the Mountaineers, Ruoff averaged 11.2 points on .434 shooting with 3.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals in 28.6 minutes per game. He was All-Big East Honorable Mention during his senior season in 2009, where he played in 33 games and averaged 15.7 points on .430 shooting with 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 steals in 35.6 minutes per game.
Onuaku (6’9”, 275, Syracuse) was selected in the 4th round (53rd overall) in last Friday’s draft. In 134 career games with the Orange, Onuaku averaged 9.2 points on .648 shooting with 6.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 0.7 steals in 22.8 minutes per game. He played in 11 games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the 2010-11 season and averaged 4.4 points on .512 shooting with 3.3 rebounds and 0.5 blocks in 9.4 minutes per game.
Simmons (6’6”, 220, Southern California) was selected in the 6th round (92nd overall) in last Friday’s NBA Development League Draft. Simmons was named the 2010-11 Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year while playing in 34 games and averaging 5.1 points on .416 shooting with 2.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.7 steals in 25.5 minutes per game. He spent the 2011-12 season with the Yokohama B-Corsairs of the Japan-BJ League, where he played in 54 games and averaged 9.1 points on .444 shooting with 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steal in 20.3 minutes per game.
