Charge Get Back to .500 With Rout of Vipers
The Canton Charge scored 79 points in the second half to run away with a 136-113 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers Thursday night. The win evens Canton up at 16-16 this season and the loss drops the Vipers to 20-14.
The Charge had three players score over 30 points en route to their highest point total of the season. Manny Harris scored a season-high 46 points with nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in 45 minutes. Antoine Agudio was a deadly 7-of-7 from the three point line, tallying 31 points and five boards in 39 minutes. Kyle Gibson was 6-of-7 from behind the arc with 30 points and five rebounds in 39 minutes.
After Rio Grande got within one at 74-73 with 5:06 left in the third quarter, the Charge finished the period on a 22-6 run and race to a 96-79 advantage, never looking back. Their 40 third quarter points and 79 second half points were both season highs. Canton’s starters contributed 128 of the team’s 136 points in the game. Dante Milligan had his eighth double-double of the year with 11 points and 13 rebounds in 32 minutes.
Rio Grande had seven players score in double figures, led by Marcus Morris’ 18 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes. Will Conroy gave a superb effort with 14 points 18 assists, seven rebounds and three steals in 33 minutes. The Vipers bench outscored the Charge 47-8.
With the season series tied at one win apiece, the two teams will meet in the finale Saturday at 8:00 p.m. in Texas.
