Alan Anderson Signs With the Toronto Raptors
Charge guard/forward Alan Anderson (6-6, 220, Michigan State) has signed a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors, the NBA Development League announced today. The signing of Anderson marks the 42nd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2011-2012 season and the second for Canton after Manny Harris signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 21st.
In eight games (seven starts) with the Charge this season, Anderson averaged 21.5 points on .550 shooting with 4.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.9 steals in 33.0 minutes per game. He has score 20 or more points in six out of eight games he has played in and the Charge were 7-1 with Anderson in the lineup. He scored a season-high 30 points with six rebounds, five assists and two steals in 36 minutes of action against Springfield on Saturday, March 24th.
Anderson, 30, has prior NBA experience and spent parts of the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons with the Charlotte Bobcats. In 36 games (seven starts) during his rookie year in 2005-06, he averaged 5.8 points on .414 shooting with 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 15.7 minutes per game. Anderson saw action in 17 games during the 2006-07 season and averaged 5.8 points on .457 shooting with 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 15.1 minutes per game.
