2013-14 Charge Girls Set to Make Debut
The Canton Charge are pleased to welcome the new crop of ladies who will represent your team and city as the 2013-2014 Charge Girls Dance Team. After the audition process in August, six new members were selected to become Canton Charge Girls for the upcoming season. Alongside the newest additions, the Charge also welcome back two 2012-2013 CCG veteran members, Jessy and Kelsey, as well as their 2012-2013 season coach, Toni.
“I chose to return because last season as a Charge Girl was the best year of my life!” said veteran Charge Girl Jessy on why she chose to come back for a second season. “It’s so much fun and we have the best fans! I love my coach, Toni, and I know she’ll help me improve as a dancer. I’m so excited to be back with my partner in crime, Kelsey, and I love the new girls this year. We’re already so close!”
Throughout the audition process, CCG hopefuls were judged not only on their dance performance and style, but also their personalities, in order to find those who best represent the Canton Charge organization. Prior to the audition process, workshops were held at both the University of Akron and Kent State University in order to give those interested in trying out for the team a taste of what it’s like to be a Charge Girl. Those who sought after a spot on the team then went through two rounds of auditions and an interview process before the lucky final eight were named to the CCG Dance Team.
“My expectations for this season are very high. Being a part of the team last year really makes me motivated to return stronger and better than ever and wow the crowd with all the hard work we’ve been putting in,” explained other veteran Charge Girl Kelsey, also returning for 2013-2014. “I hope that I can teach the new Charge Girls what it means to be a member of this team and represent this organization. We uphold a high standard that was set for us by all the people who work so hard to make Canton Charge games the best entertainment experience for our fans. As ambassadors it’s important that we take pride in our role.”
The 2013-2014 CCG Dance Team made their first appearance together on October 9th at the Civic Center when the Charge hosted the Cavaliers preseason game against the Bobcats. Throughout the coming season Jessy, Kelsey, Gabriella, Mikala, Tracy, Devan, Chelsea, and Gianna can be found giving high-energy dance performances at all Canton Charge home games, as well as making a difference in their community through various outreach initiatives.
