NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2012 – The Brooklyn Nets today assigned Tornike Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor to the Springfield Armor, the Nets’ NBA Development League affiliate. The assignments are the 64th and 65th of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, while Shengelia and Taylor become the 40th and 41st NBA players who have been assigned to the NBA D-League this season.
Shengelia (6-8, 207, Colorado) joins the Armor having played in five games for the Nets this season, averaging 2.0 points and 4.4 minutes. Shengelia played for the Georgia National Team during the 2011 European Basketball Championships. He was selected 54th overall at the 2012 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and then traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
Taylor (6-3, 185, Kansas) has appeared in 10 games for the Nets this season, averaging 1.3 points and 3.0 minutes. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 41st pick in the 2012 NBA Draft before being traded to Brooklyn.
Both players will be in uniform when the Armor take on the Erie BayHawks tonight at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
