'Tis the Season
BAKERSFIELD, December 16, 2010— The holiday season means many things to different people, but to Trey Johnson it’s all about family. His favorite holiday is Christmas and you can surely find him sporting a Santa hat everywhere he goes nowadays. We sat down with Trey to discuss his enthusiasm and appreciation for this time of the year.
With all the things that the season brings, Trey most cherishes, “spending time with my family, the fellowship of everyone coming together. I have a lot of family members that live in different places and it’s enjoyable that we all can come together and relax and enjoy each other’s company.”
Even his favorite childhood holiday memory is not about a certain gift or reward but about being with family. “My whole family gathered at my grandmother’s house one evening to watch Christmas movies and all of a sudden ‘ho ho ho Merry Christmas’ came over the loudspeaker of her sound system and we thought it was Santa Claus. My cousins, siblings and I jumped from under our covers and ran to the back. Once I got older, my family told me that it was my cousin who did that but for a long time, I really thought it was Santa Claus,” Trey shared.
To Johnson, the best present he keeps on receiving is, “still being able to share the holidays with my grandparents. That’s a gift year in and year out.”
Having so much holiday spirit, Trey likes to give back to others. “I just give. I love buying gifts. It doesn’t matter if I get one in return. I just like sharing and seeing people’s faces when they get something that they really wanted or when they realize that they got a gift and they didn’t expect one.”
So what do the holidays mean to Trey? “Love, the time to be together with your family,” he said.
At this joyous time of the year, on behalf of Trey Johnson, the Bakersfield Jam Family wants to wish you and yours happy holidays!
