Los Angeles Clippers Reassign Willie Warren to Bakersfield Jam
BAKERSFIELD, Mar. 3, 2011 – Bakersfield’s NBA affiliate, Los Angeles Clippers, have reassigned their rookie guard, Willie Warren, to the Jam, it was announced today. The assignment marks the 42nd time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the second assignment for Warren, a rookie out of Oklahoma.
Warren (6-4, 203) was first assigned on Feb. 3, and played in six games with Bakersfield, averaging 21.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 7.0 assists in 25.5 minutes. Warren has appeared in 21 games this season with the Clippers, averaging 1.9 points and 1.4 assists in 7.1 minutes.
The Clippers selected Warren, an early-entry candidate, in the second round (54th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft. In two seasons at Oklahoma, Warren averaged 15.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 57 games. As a freshman, Warren was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection, and was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year. As a sophomore, Warren’s 16.3 points per game led the Sooners, and he was named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention player.
Warren is expected to join the Jam for the team’s home game against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers tomorrow night.
