Legendary NBA Player and Broadcaster Bill Walton Announced as Special Guest Speaker

BAKERSFIELD, August 31, 2012 – The Bakersfield Jam have announced that Bill Walton, legendary NBA player and broadcaster, will be the special guest speaker at the upcoming Jam Partner Event held on Tuesday, September 25 at the Dignity Health Event Center.

Bill Walton will speak about his remarkable basketball, broadcasting, and business career. Walton won two national titles with UCLA in 1972 and 1973; was the #1 overall pick in the 1974 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers; won 2 NBA championships in 1977 and 1986; NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 1978; inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993; named as one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players of All-Time in 1997; and in 2009, Walton was named one of the top 50 sports broadcasters of all time by the American Sportscasters Association.

Walton is currently the Executive Chairman of Connect SD Sport Innovators (SDSI), a non-profit, business accelerating, trade organization that connects and drives the growth of Southern California's vibrant sports economy by offering innovative programs and services for startups, mature companies and service providers. SDSI offers mentoring, education and capital funding opportunities for start-ups; best practice collaboration, access to new technology, and public policy advocacy for mature companies; as well as deal flow to our service providers and the Southern California Investment Community. Bill is also a board member for the Junior Seau foundation.
