Jam Trade with Wizards for Major and Eldridge
BAKERSFIELD, November 4, 2011 – The Bakersfield Jam has completed a trade that will send two picks from the 2011 NBA Development League Draft, Edwin Ubiles and Travis Walton, to Dakota for the Wizards 12th overall pick in last evening’s Draft, Osiris Eldridge, and NBA D-League veteran, Renaldo Major.
“We are excited to bring Osiris and Renaldo to Bakersfield,” said Head Coach Will Voigt. “Renaldo is a proven player in our league and his veteran leadership is going to be a great addition. Osiris is a tremendous young talent that we feel can really develop into a great player.”
Major, 6’7” Forward, was selected in the fourth round of the 2006 NBA Development League Draft by the Dakota Wizards, playing four total seasons with the Wizards, averaging 15.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 49 games last year. A 2007 GATORADE Call-up to the Golden State Warriors, Major participated in the 2007 Pepsi Pro Summer League in Orlando, playing for the Miami Heat. He also spent a season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Dodge City Legend (USBL), and Gary Steelheads (CBA). Transferring from South Plains Junior College, Major averaged 9.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 2004, his last season at Fresno State.
Eldridge, 6’3” Guard out of Illinois State, spent last year in Turkey, averaging 9.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals in 27 games. He participated in the 2010 NBA Summer League, playing for the Portland Trailblazers. MVC Freshman of the Year in 2007, Eldridge ended his ISU career as the No. 5 scorer in school history with 1,838 points and was a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference First-Team selection. He led the team in scoring his senior year, averaging 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in 33 games, and was also named to the All-League Defensive Team for the second straight year.
