Jam Intern to Join Detroit Pistons
BAKERSFIELD, October 26, 2011 – The Bakersfield Jam congratulate Ryan Bishara, Jam Scout and Basketball Operations Intern this past offseason, on joining the Detroit Pistons as the Assistant to the President of Palace Sports & Entertainment, Dennis Mannion.
“I am extremely fortunate and excited to be joining the Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment. I know this opportunity will provide a rewarding and mutually beneficial experience and I look forward to helping bring a championship to Detroit,” said Bishara.
Bishara spent the summer interning for Coach Will Voigt where he assisted in writing scouting reports, preparing film evaluations, and updating player and agent databases. He also organized the logistics for the Bakersfield Jam Open Tryout camps.
“Working with Coach Voigt has been my most hands on and in depth work experience thus far,” added Bishara. “Coach instantly gave me a wide variety of responsibilities and I grew immensely in my organizational, time management, and scouting abilities. I look forward to bringing these skills and experiences to Detroit.”

Mannion joined the Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment in September 2011, having spent 29 seasons working in professional sports, most recently serving as President of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He joined the Dodgers in 2007 following eight seasons with the Baltimore Ravens where he was Senior Vice President of Business Ventures. Prior to joining the Ravens in 1999, Mannion spent three years as Senior Vice President at Ascent Sports, owner of the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Avalanche and the Pepsi Center, where he managed all business operations for both teams and the arena. Mannion spent 16 years with the Philadelphia Phillies from 1982-1997, serving as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for his last eight seasons.
Bishara earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications from UCLA in three years and completed countless internships during his collegiate years. Most recently, he worked as the Student Assistant Video Coordinator for the UCLA Men’s Basketball Team. Ryan has also worked with the Los Angeles Galaxy, UCLA Athletics & ISP Sports, ESPN X-Games, Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, Los Angeles Sparks, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles D-Fenders, Pro Star Sports Agency, and Philadelphia Flyers. In addition, he served as the Vice President of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity, Vice President of Sports & Entertainment Business Network Club at UCLA, Vice President of Public Relations for the Inter-Fraternity Council, and President and Founder of Project Cooldown Club.
