BAKERSFIELD, August 29, 2011
– The Bakersfield Jam, NBA affiliate of the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, and Toronto Raptors, are set to open the 2011-12 NBA Development League Season at the Jam Events Center on November 25 against the Reno Bighorns.
Bakersfield will play nine games against Reno, eight against the returning Los Angeles D-Fenders, and seven against the Idaho Stampede this upcoming season. The Jam will finish the season on a five-game road trip, which includes a match-up against the reigning 2010 NBA Development League Champion Iowa Energy on April 3.
The NBA D-League Showcase will once again be played this season and take place in mid-January. An announcement with specific details on the event will be announced at a later date. In addition to the NBA D-League Showcase, the NBA D-League All-Star Game is scheduled for Feb. 25 in Orlando.
“We're poised for another outstanding NBA D-League season, coming off our record-breaking 10th season in 2010-11," said Dan Reed, NBA D-League President. "With nine NBA teams now in the fold, we expect both the quality of our basketball and our fan experience to achieve an even higher level."
The Jam compiled a 29-21 regular season record last year, the best season to date in the franchise’s five-year history, and also made their second franchise playoff appearance.
