Jam Events Center To Become Dignity Health Event Center

BAKERSFIELD, August 21, 2012 – The Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League announced today that Dignity Health Bakersfield has acquired the naming rights for Bakersfield’s state-of-the-art basketball arena currently known as the Jam Events Center.

The venue will be known as “Dignity Health Event Center.” The agreement also makes the company the official health care provider of the Jam and provides the company with 22,000 square feet of promotional space for corporate events. Its name will be displayed on two signs outside the stadium along with signage inside the building.

“Dignity Health Bakersfield, Mercy and Memorial Hospitals, is proud to partner with the NBA Development League’s Bakersfield Jam through the naming of the Dignity Health Event Center,” said Memorial Hospitals CEO/President Jon Van Boening. “We applaud the commitment to the Bakersfield community that the Jam has, and at Mercy and Memorial hospitals, we also offer unique and innovative services to the community with a focus on wellness and good health. We believe the Bakersfield Jam, and the Event Center, is a perfect partnership for Dignity Health Bakersfield.”

The agreement between the Jam and Dignity Health Bakersfield marks the first naming rights deal involving an NBA D-League team and a team owned building.

“Dignity Health’s commitment to the Bakersfield Jam reflects the strong value that NBA D-League teams bring to their communities,” said NBA Development League President Dan Reed. “This partnership is a tribute to the impact that Stan Ellis, David Higdon, and the entire Jam organization have made in Bakersfield via the innovative Dignity Health Event Center, the first-class experience they provide for their fans and partners, and their award-winning community service initiatives.”

“Mercy and Memorial Hospitals have been an incredible partner and supporter since the Jam’s inception,” said Bakersfield Jam Owner Stan Ellis. “Jon and Russell are valuable community leaders and their hospitals are the leading health care providers in our area. We are honored that they have chosen the Bakersfield Jam to help promote the new identity of Dignity Health.”
