BAKERSFIELD, February 3, 2011— Bakersfield’s NBA affiliate, Los Angeles Clippers, have assigned their rookie guard, Willie Warren, to the Jam, it was announced today. The assignment marks the 37th time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the second assignment to the Jam this season. This is the first player assignment to the NBA Development League in Clippers franchise history.
Warren had appeared in 14 regular season games for the Clippers this season, averaging 2.2 points and 1.4 assists in 7.8 minutes per game. He was the 54th overall pick in the second round by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2010 NBA Draft.
“We are excited to work with the Clippers in helping Willie to develop as a pro player,” said Bakersfield Jam Head Coach Will Voigt.
Spending two seasons at Oklahoma, Warren averaged 16.3 points, 4.1 assists and 1.0 steals during his sophomore year. He was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year in 2009.
Warren is expected to join the Jam today and will be available for this weekend’s home-stand against the Springfield Armor.
