(Bakersfield, Calif., April 9, 2009) –The Bakersfield Jam, proud affiliate of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic will play their final, regular season game of the 2008-09 season Friday, April 10th, in Boise, ID against western-division leader Idaho Stampede.
The Jam (26-23) can secure a playoff game with a victory over the Stampede, who have already made it into the post-season. The two teams played Wednesday night, with Idaho defeating Bakersfield 105-87.
In just its third year, the Jam organization secured its first winning season this year, and the prospect of making the playoffs makes for an exciting final game. “With all of the highs and lows we’ve experienced this year, making the playoffs would certainly be a great way to complement our first winning season”, said Jam owner David Higdon . “Plus, with the ‘one-and-done’ format for the first two rounds, if you’re team is playing well, you never know what can happen.”
Highlights for the Jam this season included guard Trey Johnson getting two, 10-day Gatorade Call-ups to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Johnson and fellow guard Derrick Byars being selected to the NBADL All-Star west team. Johnson was also selected to the 1st Team All NBADL Showcase team, and he and Byars were selected to the NBADL All League second team.
