13 Former Jam Players on NBA Training Camp Rosters

BAKERSFIELD, October 4, 2013 – The Bakersfield Jam proudly announced today that ten former Jam players are featured on 2013-14 NBA training camp rosters. All 30 NBA teams have at least one player with NBA D-League experience on their training camp roster, the Phoenix Suns boasting a league-high 10 players.

NBA teams began their training camps this week welcoming the following former Jam players to NBA rosters: Quincy Acy (Toronto Raptors), Solomon Alabi (Philadelphia 76ers), Eric Bledsoe (Phoenix Suns), Derrick Byars (Memphis Grizzlies), Mustapha Farrakhan (Los Angeles Clippers), Diante Garrett (Oklahoma City Thunder), Damion James (Denver Nuggets), John Jenkins (Atlanta Hawks), Kendall Marshall (Phoenix Suns), James Nunnally (Phoenix Suns) and Mac Koshwal (Philadelphia 76ers), Mike Scott (Atlanta Hawks) and Patrick O’Bryant (Charlotte Bobcats).

Every player will look to earn a spot on an NBA team’s opening day roster.

“It means a lot to me that the Grizzlies have given me an opportunity to compete in training camp,” said Byars. “Obviously, it’s more special with Memphis being my hometown and I’m just looking to get out there and give it everything I’ve got to impress the staff and management.”

James said, “I’m taking advantage of every opportunity that I have.” He added, “Last year was a tough year for me not being in the NBA, but it made me better and stronger. God has a plan for me and everything happens for a reason.”

“I’m happy and blessed to be here,” said Koshwal. “I will do my best to take advantage of this opportunity and will continue to work hard day in and day out.”

Nunally said, “It’s a great opportunity for me and I have confidence in myself that good things will happen if I continue to play the right way by playing defense and knocking down shots.”

In addition to the ten former Jam players on NBA training camp rosters, eight are currently playing overseas: Chris Cooper (Siauliai- Lithuania), Stephen Dennis (Melbourne Tigers-Australia), Osiris Eldridge (Pamukkale- Turkey), Trey Johnson (Pallacanestro Biella- Italy) Renaldo Major (Joensunn Kataja Basket Club- Finland), Juan Patillo (Anyang KGC-South Korea), Cam Tatum (AEK Larnaca- Cyprus) and Adrian Thomas (Hamamatsu P.-Japan).

The Bakersfield Jam open the 2013-14 season on the road against the Idaho Stampede, Friday November 22 at 6:00 p.m. PT. The Jam home opener comes four days later on Tuesday, November 26 when they host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7:00 p.m. PT.
