Toros Acquire Luther Head

Austin, TX Jan. 13, 2012 - The Austin Toros acquired point guard Luther Head, it was announced earlier today. Head (6-3, 185) is a six year NBA veteran who most recently played in 36 games for the Sacramento Kings in the 2010-11 season, averaging 5.6 points and two assists. Head will join the team when they return to Austin. Tristan Thompson was waived as a result.

Head played four seasons at Illinois (2001- 2005) and scored over 1,000 points during his college career. He was drafted in the first round (24th overall) by the Houston Rockets in the 2005 NBA draft.

Head played four seasons in Houston before moving to Miami midway through the 2008-09 season. After only ten games, Head suffered a season ending injury. The following season, Head played with the Indiana Pacers averaging 7.6 points in 47 games.

The Toros face the Bakersfield Jam tonight in Bakersfield and they’ll travel to Reno for a game on Sunday before heading home to host the Canton Charge on Wednesday night at 7:30PM.
