Mike Berry, President of the Toros, has been with the franchise’s newly formed parent company, Southwest Basketball LLC, since November of 2004. Working with Southwest Basketball owner David Kahn, Berry has assisted with the development of the company’s four new markets which also include the Tulsa 66ers, Fort Worth Flyers and Albuquerque Thunderbirds. Prior to joining Southwest Basketball, Berry served in various sales management positions for three seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball. Mike also worked in new arena and sponsorship sales with the Portland Trail Blazers, the Indiana Pacers and the San Antonio Spurs. Berry assisted each franchise in achieving all-time highs in sponsorship and premium seat revenue leading up to the opening of three world class facilities: Rose Garden, Conseco Fieldhouse and the AT&T Center (formerly the SBC Center).
Berry is a new board member of C-A-R-Y, the Council for At-Risk-Youth and is also a volunteer board member of the Austin Sports Commission. The Toros organization, in association with Southwest Basketball LLC, is currently establishing a 501(c)3 Foundation with the company’s other NBA Development League franchises. The Toros are dedicated to making a positive contribution throughout the community while helping generate much-needed funds for charitable causes throughout Austin and Central Texas.
Berry is a 1989 graduate of Texas Christian University and also earned his MBA from the University of Oregon in 1994. A native of St. Louis, Mike and his family reside in Austin.
