Austin's Marcus Cousin Signs with Houston

Center Earns 2010-11 NBA D-League Season’s 24th GATORADE Call-Up

NEW YORK, April 11, 2011 – The Houston Rockets signed center Marcus Cousin of the Austin Toros for the 24th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Cousin’s call-up, his second, increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 99.

In 46 games (45 starts) with the Toros this season, Cousin averaged 14.9 points and 8.6 rebounds in 30.5 minutes. An NBA D-League All-Star, Cousin tallied 18 double-doubles this season for Austin.

Cousin earned his first GATORADE Call-Up in March, to the Utah Jazz. He appeared in four games with the Jazz, averaging 1.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 4.5 minutes.

Cousin (6-11, 255) appeared in five games with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2010 NBA preseason, averaging 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 15.8 minutes. He spent the 2009 NBA Summer League with the Rockets upon finishing his collegiate career at Houston. After transferring from Seton Hall, Cousin played two seasons as a Cougar, averaging 10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks as a senior in 2008-09.
