Andre Barrett Earns GATORADE Call-Up To Los Angeles Clippers

NEW YORK, Mar. 3, 2008 – Austin Toros guard and NBA veteran Andre Barrett today earned a GATORADE Call-Up to the Los Angeles Clippers. Barrett is scheduled to suit up for the Clippers tonight when the team hosts the Detroit Pistons at the STAPLES Center.

Barrett (5-10, 173) played in 30 games for the D-League’s Bakersfield Jam where he averaged 18.9 points, 8.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds in 38.2 minutes before being traded to Austin on Feb. 25. Barrett is the 16th GATORADE Call-Up this season.

Barrett holds NBA career averages of 3.4 points, 2.0 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 63 games with Houston, Orlando, Phoenix, and Chicago. The Bronx, New York, product began his NBA career with the Rockets during the 2004-05 season, when he appeared in 27 games and averaged 2.1 points before finishing the season with the Magic. Barrett then appeared in 17 games for the Raptors during the 2005-06 season, where he averaged a career-best 4.6 points in 15.4 minutes. He also appeared in two games for the Suns that season. Last season, Barrett appeared in six games for the Bulls averaging 1.3 points.

A four year starter at Seton Hall, Barrett averaged 15.3 points, 5.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 122 collegiate games and earned All-American honorable mention honors by the Associated Press during his senior season. Barrett finished his career with the Pirates ranking second all-time in assists (662), third all-time in three-pointers made (244) and became the school’s all-time leader in minutes played (4,296) during his final game.
