Austin Toros to Host TJ Ford Day on Sunday for Round One, Game Two of the 2012 NBA D-League Playoffs
Austin, TX April 9, 2012 — The Austin Toros earned the third seed for the 2011-12 D-League season and selected the Erie BayHawks on Sunday afternoon as their opponent for round one of the 2012 NBA D-League playoffs hosted by BBVA. For the fourth consecutive year, the top three seeds (conference champions and the wild card team) in the NBA D-League playoffs had the opportunity to select their first round opponent among the four lower seeded teams. The Toros (33-17) set a new team best record for regular season wins on Saturday against Sioux Falls. The previous record was set in 2008-09 when the Toros went 32-18.
Game one in the best-of-three series takes place at Erie this Thursday, April 12th. Games two and three are scheduled for 3:00pm Sunday, April 15th at Cedar Park Center and if necessary, Monday at 7:30p.m. The Toros and BayHawks competed once during the regular season with the Toros coming out on top, 111-88.
The Toros will host TJ Ford Night on Sunday during game two. Fans attending can enter to win autographed Ford Longhorn and Spurs jerseys, and take part in a post game autograph session with TJ Ford and San Antonio Spurs assigned guard Cory Joseph. Fans are asked to wear white to support the team on Sunday and the first 500 fans to enter the building will receive a free playoff t-shirt courtesy of Austin Cab.
The Toros will host a watch party for game one at Big Daddy’s (9070 Research Blvd. #101) on Thursday starting at 5:30pm. Fans can also catch the game on Futurecast, the free live web-streaming of all D-League games at nba.com/futurecast.
