Austin Toros Partner with JCC Austin
for 8th Annual Kogut Kup

AUSTIN, TX July 29, 2010 - The Austin Toros will partner with the Jewish Community Association of Austin in presenting the 8th Annual "Sunday for Steve" Kogut Kup, 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. The tournament takes place Sunday, August 29th and is held in memory of Steve Kogut, former congregation member of Agudas Achim and basketball enthusiast. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. All registered players may participate in a free basketball clinic hosted by the Toros at noon. Official tournament play begins at 1:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event provide travel scholarships for trips to Israel for Jewish teens in Austin. Kogut was instrumental in planning the JCC's first trip to Israel prior to his death in 2000.

Tournament fees are based on two divisions: 16-21 ($20) and 22 years and older ($30) per player. Teams must have at least three players and no more than five. Co-ed teams are optional. All games will be played at the JCC gymnasium located at 7300 Hart Lane in Austin, Texas.

"The Austin Toros are proud to support the JCC and their great cause," said Peter Lubell, Toros COO. "We look forward to seeing the best 3-on-3 basketball players that Austin has to offer. To show our commitment to this event, we are offering a free tryout for the Austin Toros to the winning team."

The Toros host local player tryouts September 25th in San Antonio and October 9th in Austin this year. Qualified tournament winners earn an opportunity to participate in the tryout free of charge. Selected players at each tryout may earn the right to compete in the Toros training camp in November for a 2010-11 roster spot.
