Austin Toros Host Season of Giving Game
Austin, TX (December 16, 2013) – The Austin Toros will partner with Central Texas Ability Sports and the Josh Howard Foundation to host their annual Season of Giving game on Dec. 21 at Cedar Park Center at 7:30pm.
Several hundred Central Texas families will be the special guests for the Toros matchup against the Delaware 87ers. In the spirit of giving, the Toros and the Josh Howard Foundation will host a toy scramble for pre-selected families prior to the start of the game. Santa will also be in attendance to help the Toros and their fans celebrate the memorable night.
“I’m really excited about the Season of Giving game. I feel blessed to be able to give back to the community through my foundation and through my team’s activities,” said former NBA All-Star and Toros player Josh Howard.
Central Texas Ability Sports youth will distribute stuffed animals donated from Petsmart to the first 300 children arriving at the arena Saturday evening. CTX provides year round sports for children with disabilities and their siblings free of charge.
“CTX Ability Sports takes pride in teaching their children with disabilities to serve the community no matter what their abilities might be. We teach life skills through sports,” said John Lorek, Executive Director.
Season of Giving is an initiative that the NBA , WNBA and the NBA D-League participate in annually. The campaign generates awareness around the importance of giving back. Community partners and local volunteers join players and coaches in hosting charitable events such as meal services, food drives, and toy drives.
