Austin Toros to Host 2012 NBA D-League Draft Party

Defending Champions Get 15th Pick

Austin, TX Oct. 18, 2012- The defending 2011-12 NBA D-League Champion Austin Toros will host their annual draft party on Friday, November 2nd at Big Daddy’s Burgers and Bar starting at 5:30pm. Big Daddy’s is located at 9070 Research Boulevard in Austin. The event is free and open to the public. Additionally, Big Daddy’s will provide free appetizers to the first 100 Toros fans in attendance.

“This is a very exciting time for the Toros as we kick-off our season with the upcoming draft,” said Toros Head Coach Taylor Jenkins.

The NBA Development League announced that its 2012 Draft will take place via teleconference beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET, from the League’s New York headquarters. The Toros are slated to pick 15th in each of the eight rounds based on the League’s new draft policy that determines order based on teams that did not qualify for the previous season’s playoffs, in reverse order of record, followed by those teams that did qualify for the previous season’s playoffs, also in reverse order of record.

Although no player trades will take place this year during the draft, the Toros traded their first round pick to the Texas Legends last year for eventual 2011-12 NBA D-League MVP, Justin Dentmon.

Jenkins added, “Our staff has been working hard to evaluate draft candidates and identify the players we feel will best fit into our culture and system. Draft night, as always, will hopefully be another exciting and successful night for our team and its fans.”

The Toros home opener is Saturday, December 1st at 7:30pm against the Idaho Stampede at Cedar Park Center. Season and group tickets are available now. For more information, please visit austintoros.com or call (512) 236-8333.
