After going on a 17-1 outburst in the second quarter of their NBA Summer League 2013 game, the Chicago Bulls (1-0) defeated the Memphis Grizzlies (0-1) by an 81-67 final score at UNLV's COX Pavilion in Las Vegas. Chicago's big run came moments after seeing an early eight-point lead wiped out by an 18-6 scoring barrage by Memphis between the first and second periods.

Chicago's Andrew Goudelock, a second-round selection in the 2011 NBA Draft out of the College of Charleston, scored a game-high 26 points off 9-of-15 shooting from the field. Goudelock sparked the Bulls' big second quarter run with a 5-for-5 performance that produced 11 points. Aside from his scoring touch, he contributed four rebounds, two assists and two steals, as well.

The turning point of the game for the Bulls came moments after seeing an early eight-point lead -- 10-2 midway through the first quarter -- wiped out by an 18-6 scoring barrage by Memphis. The Grizzlies' big run stretched a total of 7:03 and covered the end of the opening frame through the first 2:11 of the second period.

After opening up with a paltry 1-for-8 showing from the field, Memphis made seven of its next 12 shots and chipped in three made free throws to swing the game in its favor for a brief period of time.

Once Goudelock and the Bulls went ahead by 12 -- 33-21 -- with 2:41 remaining on the clock in the second stanza the lead never changed hands again. The Grizzlies; however, managed to cut the deficit to four just 72 seconds before intermission, but Chicago took a nine-point lead into the break after a quick 5-0 run.

In the second half, the Bulls' advantage never dropped below seven and following a trey by Goudelock early in the third it stayed in double figures. The lead eventually ballooned to as much as 19 on three occasions in the third before closing at 14.

Chicago's Malcolm Thomas, a product out of San Diego State, had the games only double-double behind 11 points and 10 rebounds. Thomas and Goudelock were two of four Bulls' players to notch double digits in scoring with Marquis Teague (12 points) and Deon Thompson (10) joining the mix.

Memphis' Tony Wroten, a 2012 first rounder out of Washington, led the Grizzlies in scoring with 17 points. Matt Howard added 11 points of his own in a losing effort for Memphis.

The Grizzlies return to action on Sunday in the COX Pavilion at 5:00 pm against the Cleveland Cavaliers, while the Bulls will have one day off before their Monday outing with the Denver Nuggets at 7:30 pm in the Thomas & Mack Center.
