What: Theo Ratliff, Dion Glover, Jason Terry, Glenn Robinson, Alan Henderson, the Hawks’ mascot and dance team will join the All-Star reading team and break 60 students up into reading groups to participate in various
BOSTON CELTICS Date: October 22, 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
Location: James Condon Elementary School, 200 D Street, South Boston, Mass.
What: Antoine Walker, Paul Pierce, Coach O’Brien, Walter McCarty, Shammond Williams and JoJo White will visit groups of students in the school library. The students will be divided into three groups – one group will feature the Celtics reading to the students, the second group will feature the students reading to the Celtics, and the third group will make bookmarks.
CHICAGO BULLS Date: October 24, 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.
Location: Berto Center
What: The entire team and coaching staff will be joined by Mary Dempsey, the Commissioner of the Chicago Public Libraries and 180 first – sixth graders. The students will rotate through reading, arts & crafts, and snacks and autographs.
CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Date: October 17, 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.
Location: Gund Arena
What: The entire Cavaliers team and coaches will read to children, and shoot baskets (if time permits). Children will have lunch at the arena beginning at 11:00 a.m.
DALLAS MAVERICKS Date: October 21, 12:30 - 2:00 p.m.
Location: American Airlines Arena Practice Court
What: 50 kids from five of six schools adopted by team. The entire team will be on hand. After observing practice, kids and players will separate into reading groups and then rotate to arts and crafts activities. Distribution of goodie bags and autographs.
DENVER NUGGETS Date: October 22, 1:30 p.m.
Location: Colorado Ocean Journey, 700 Water Street, Qwest Park, Denver CO, 80211.
What: Marcus Camby, Juwan Howard, Predrag Savovic, Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Chris Anderson, Jeff Campos and Dance Team will read a Rainbow Fish book in front of one of the life-size fish tanks. Book distribution and autographs.
DETROIT PISTONS Date: October 24, 1:00 p.m.
Location: Palace of Auburn Hills
What: The entire Pistons team, coaching staff and front office will celebrate multicultural reading and activities with 300 metro Detroit students. Students will create “passports” and visit different stations and hear stories from that part of the world. Fifteen countries will be represented with food, hats, toys and books.
GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS Date: October 31, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Oak College Prep
Participants: Jason Richardson, Mike Dunleavy, Adonal Foyle and All-Star Reading Team members will read at stations to 85 fifth graders. Meal, books and bookmarks provided by team.
HOUSTON ROCKETS Date: October 22, 12:00 - 2:30 p.m.
Location: Rockets Practice Court
What: Entire team along with Comets players Tiffany Johnson and Kelly Gibson will read to 250 kids from area elementary schools on court.
INDIANA PACERS Date: October 21, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Location: Conseco Fieldhouse
What: The entire Pacers team, coaching staff, both mascots and dance team will host 75 children (kindergarten – third grade) from Auntie Mame’s Child Development Center, Day Nursery, Indiana Children’s Wish Fund, Dyslexia Institute, International School and the Hispanic Center. The kids will be divided into groups where a Pacers’ representative will read aloud from an oversized book. Children will sit on special “reading mats”, receive gift bags and four free books.
L.A. CLIPPERS Date: October 25, 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Location: Echo Park Boys and Girls Club/Clippers Reading and Learning Center
What: Corey Maggette, Quentin Richardson, Andre Miller, Elton Brand, Melvin Ely, Chris Wilcox, Coach Alvin Gentry and VP Christian Howard will read to kids and work with them in the Clippers computer lab to create their own bookmarks.
L.A. LAKERS Date: October 21, 2:00 - 3:15 p.m.
Location: Miles Avenue Elementary School
What: Surprise visit by Kobe Bryant, Tracy Murray, Derek Fisher, Rick Fox and Worthy. They will participate in a school reading rally with 2,500 kids and conduct Reading Time-outs. Harry Potter books will be distributed.
MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES Date: October 28, 12:00 p.m.
Location: Idlewild Elementary School, 1950 Linden
What: Shane Battier, Pau Gasol, Lorenzen Wright, Brevin Knight, Drew Gooden, Bob Lanier, Matt Devlin and GM Dick Versace will read to and take pictures with kids.
MIAMI HEAT Date: October 24, 1:00 p.m.
Location: Slyvania Heights Elementary School
What: A Heat player (either Eddie Jones or Brian Grant), the Heat coaching staff and PJ Kimbrough (SOL) will join the mascots and dancers and talk to students about the importance of reading and education.
MILWAUKEE BUCKS Date: October 17, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Location: North Central YMCA
What: Ray Allen, Dan Gadzuric, Kevin Ollie, Mike Wilks and Bango the Mascot will join 100 kids in reading, distributing new books and signing autographs.
MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES Date: October 29, 1:00 p.m.
Location: Target Center
What: Entire team and Coach Flip Saunders will participate in reading stations and arts and crafts with 150 kids.
NEW JERSEY NETS Date: October 23, 10:00 a.m.
Location: Rutherford Public Library, 150 Park Avenue, Rutherford (Located on a traffic circle) cross streets are Park Avenue, Chestnut and West Passaic
What: Jason Kidd, Dikembe Mutombo, Richard Jefferson, Kerry Kittles, Kenyon Martin, Jason Collins, Aaron Williams, Rod Thorn, Tamer Slay, Byron Scott, Willis Reed, Sly and Power N’ Motion will spend time reading to 150 3rd graders from Rutherford Public Schools.
NEW YORK KNICKS Date: October 24, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m
Location: The Terrace at MSG.
What: Clarence Weatherspoon, Charlie Ward, Kurt Thomas and members of the All-Star Reading Team will make up Halloween stories/skits using players, celebrities and props with 50 children from New York City and Westchester public schools.
NEW ORLEANS HORNETS Date: October 21, 2:00 p.m.
What: Baron Davis, Jamaal Magloire, P.J. Brown and David Wesley will join members of the All-Star Reading Team and will dedicate a new library. During the event, the players and children will be divided into groups to read from selected books.
ORLANDO MAGIC Date: October 25, 10:00 a.m.
Location: Sea World Ports of Call
What: The entire Magic team will join 300 third graders from Ventura & Highland Elementary schools in various activities including Musical Chairs (children who do not get chairs must read a tongue-twister), Beach Ball Story Elements, Make-A-Book, Home Run (students stand on “bases” and ask questions about a story), and Story Charades.
PHILADELPHIA 76ERS Date: October 21, 9:30 a.m.

What: All players, coaches and Bob Lanier will read to a group first and second grade students from Mann Elementary School (180 students total). Each student will receive a gift bag and new book.

What: The Gorilla, Tom Chambers, Connie Hawkins, Scott Williams, Stephon Marbury, Anfernee Hardaway, Tom Gugliotta, Bob Lanier and Mercury’s Lisa Harrison will rotate kids through reading stations, computer lab and teamwork activities.
PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS Date: October 24, 1:00 p.m.

What: Entire team and a Fire player will read to kids in five reading corners.

What: Entire team, along with a Monarchs player and Maloofs will read to 75 underprivileged kids.

What: Vladimir Radmanovic and Calvin Booth will read to students at this groundbreaking ceremony for Booth’s new Reading and Learning Center. Calvin Booth is making a donation to help create this.
TORONTO RAPTORS Date: October 28

What: Antonio Davis, Mamadou N’diaye, Nate Huffman, Jelani McCoy and assistant coaches Jay Triano and Craig Neal will participate in an event with 100 students in various activities including read alongs, puzzle activities and arts & crafts.
