Jeff Bower
College - St. Francis (PA) '83
Jeff Bower has been a valuable asset to the Hornets basketball staff during his six seasons with the club. After spending the last two years as the team's general manager, Bower will move to the bench as an assistant coach for the 2003-04 season.

Bower began his tenure with the Hornets as an advance scout from 1995 to 1997, before earning a promotion as the Hornets' director of scouting from the 1997-98 season through 1999-2000. In addition to his scouting duties during the 1998-99 season, Bower joined the coaching ranks as an assistant after Paul Silas was named interim head coach on March 7, 1999 and helped him lead the Hornets to an impressive 22-13 record.

Bower was named assistant general manager for the 2000-01 season. On June 4, 2001, he was promoted to general manager and held that position through the 2002-03 season.

Prior to joining the Hornets, Bower enjoyed an impressive career at the collegiate level. He spent three years as an assistant coach at Penn State University from 1983-86 before moving to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. After first serving as an assistant coach from 1986 through 1990, he was promoted to associate head coach, a position he held for five years. Bower helped lead the Red Foxes to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1987 after winning the Northeast Conference. Bower also coached former Indiana Pacers starting center Rik Smits, the second overall pick in the 1988 NBA Draft, for two years during his time at Marist.

In addition to his college and NBA accolades, Bower was a three-time guest of the International Basketball Academy held in Pula, Croatia, where he gave coaching clinics and instruction to players.

The native of Hollidaysburg, Pa., resides in New Orleans with his wife, Lisa and their daughter, Lindsey (born in January 2003). Bower holds a bachelor of arts degree in history/education from St. Francis College in Pennsylvania.
