College - Rowan

Billy Lange is in his first season as a player development coach with the Sixers after serving as associate head coach at Villanova under head coach Jay Wright.

For Lange, it was his second stint with the Wildcats, having spent three years as their director of basketball operations from 2001-2004. He rejoined Coach Wright’s staff in May of 2011 following seven seasons as head coach of the United States Naval Academy.

At Navy, Lange inherited a team that had won five games the season prior to his arrival. The Midshipmen improved their win totals in each of his first five seasons, highlighted by a 19-11 mark in 2008-09. In 2008, Lange was named Patriot League Coach of the Year. Navy also lead the Patriot League in scoring in five of the sevens season Lange was in charge.

A native of Haddon Heights, N.J., Lange played for his father, Bill Lange, Sr., at Bishop Eustace High School before moving onto Rowan University. He began his coaching career in 1994 as an assistant to his father. Lange also served as an assistant on Herb Magee’s staff at Philadelphia University and spent the 1998-99 season as an assistant coach at La Salle.

Lange and his wife, Alicia have four sons: Will, Matthew and twins Marc and Jake.
