Top Five Plays Of The Week – 04/13/15

Rowan Kavner

PLAYA VISTA, Calif. – Two games were plenty for DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin to rise above the competition.

Jordan and Griffin dunked their way into the top five and helped the Clippers win their games against the Lakers and Grizzlies last week.

Here are the top five plays of the week:

5) Griffin breaks away

As the Clippers go on the run, Chris Paul notices Blake Griffin leading the pack. Paul fires a laser to Griffin, who marches ahead of the defense, takes one dribble and rises up for the dunk.

4) Jordan starts, finishes the break

DeAndre Jordan pokes the pass away from Zach Randolph, leading to a fast break for the Clippers. It’s not the smoothest of transition passing for the Clippers, but the ball ends up back in the hands of the player who started the break, as Jordan finishes with the reverse jam.

3) Classic Paul to Jordan

This might’ve been the most ferocious finish of the two games. Following the pick on Nick Calathes, Jordan knows he’s got the matchup he wants as Calathes slips. Paul also knows that, tossing up the lob to a cutting Jordan to give the Clippers the lead in style during a close game in the fourth quarter.

2) Griffin hovers in air

Blake Griffin knew immediately after he rolled off the pick for Austin Rivers that he’d get an open lane to the basket and that he’d likely get the alley-oop feed. As he rose up to take the lob from Rivers, he may have jumped a little early on a high-arching pass, but he somehow hovered long enough to finish the alley-oop.

1) Nifty inbounds pass

It happened so fast and covered so much ground so quickly, it could only be seen in its entirety via replay. J.J. Redick sees Matt Barnes tear down court and was basically the quarterback on a one-handed heave across the court. Barnes grabs the pass and without bringing it back down, goes straight to the lob for Jordan, who’s ready to finish in style.
