THE TEAM: I can’t tell you how positive I am about our future. I believe in this team. We have the nucleus to be a great team. Two years ago, we found out this team-when healthy-was talented enough to compete at the highest level. Chris Kaman has emerged as a real force at center. With his championship stats, he’s bringing a heavy load against all NBA centers. And with the return of Elton Brand, he can only get better. They compliment each other so well. Two years ago, we were in the top 5 of FG%, blocked shots, defensive and offensive rebounds. And we’re continuing to drive forward with one of the strongest front lines in the league. Just look at Al Thornton. As a rookie, we witnessed his explosive skills turn games around and help produce wins. I believe that when you combine the talents of Kaman and Thornton with the return of Elton Brand, Shaun Livingston and the rest of our nucleus, we will have a formidable team.
THE FUTURE: We are always looking to assemble a team that will compete at the highest level. We are planning to do whatever is necessary to get us back to where I know we should be. We want Corey Maggette and Elton Brand on our team for the long term. As an organization, our commitment to do that is still very much intact. We’ve always got our eyes on the playoffs, and ultimately, the championship.
THE COMMITMENT: I know we all want the same thing - for us to return to excellence. Our fans demand and deserve it. We are planning to do whatever is necessary to get us back to where we should be, and that entails improving our team in all areas. Our primary effort is to guarantee that our fans are rewarded with the best possible overall experience and total effort, on and off the court.
