Paul Helps Community on Last Off-Season Weekend

By: Dennis Rogers

With the season officially starting on Monday with Media Day, Clippers All-Star Chris Paul made the most of his last off-season weekend. On Saturday, Paul and his CP3 Foundation hosted a 3K walk, exclusively for 3,000 of LA’s BEST children and their families in East Los Angeles.

“Anytime you can get out and help the community, it is a great time,” Paul said. “I have been fortunate to partner with LA’s Best for a few years now and this is a great event to help the community and school children stay active.”

This is the third year Chris and his foundation have partnered with LA’s BEST to host the free health festival, which is designed to help their students incorporate healthy eating and physical activity in their daily lives.

After the 3K walk, led by Paul, students and their families participated in a yoga session guided by Meaghan Townsend, creator of Kennedy Fit, a fitness program named to honor the creator's uncle Robert F. Kennedy. After a little zen, festival goers perused nutrition forums and demonstration booths, where participants learned how to prepare healthy snacks from cookbooks and will taste-test nutritious foods.

LA's BEST - Better Educated Students for Tomorrow - is a nationally recognized after school education, enrichment and recreation program serving more than 29,000 children with the greatest needs and fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles.

“There is nothing I would rather do on my last weekend before the season,” Paul said. “I am blessed to be able to help these kids and this great community.”
