(Palm Desert, CA) - New head coach Mike Dunleavy opened his first Clipper training camp at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, Ca. Tuesday morning. 19 players were on hand including veterans Elton Brand, Corey Maggette and Olden Polynice. The trio had been excused from the Saturday-Sunday workouts under terms of the collective bargaining agreement that restrict early practices to players with less than 4 years of experience. There is no doubt that there is a better focus among the players at this year's camp. The new coaching staff has demanded and received the respect and attention of the collection of 9 returning players, 6 rookies and 4 newcomer veterans. The morning was spent with a combination of conditioning and learning drills. The players all have a new system to absorb. More of the same for the evening along with some fullcourt scrimmaging. The two-a-day drills continue Wednesday.
