The Clippers today traded forward Melvin Ely and guard Eddie House to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for a second round draft pick in 2005 and a second round draft pick in 2006.
“We began discussions on this transaction in early July, with the goal of creating salary cap flexibility which would allow us to take advantage of any potential opportunities,” stated Clippers’ Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor.
In two seasons with the Clippers, Ely averaged 4.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14.0 minutes per game. Ely was originally selected twelfth overall by the Clippers in the 2002 NBA Draft.
House tallied 6.8 points, 2.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds during his only season in Los Angeles.
