Clippers Issue Qualifying Offer To Richardson

Posted: June 30th, 2004

The Clippers today made a qualifying offer to Guard Quentin Richardson for the 2004-05 season.

Under the terms of the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Clippers are required to make the qualifying offer by June 30 in order to establish the team’s right to match any offer he might receive.

"Quentin is important and is a good fit for our team", said Elgin Baylor, Clippers' Vice President of Basketball Operations. “Extending him this qualifying offer ensures all of our options. We intend to have discussions with Quentin, when league rules permit us to do so.”

Teams are permitted to begin negotiations with restricted free agents on July 1 and are permitted to sign these players to long-term contracts after July 14.
