CHICAGO (AP)
Cuttino Mobley scored 25 points, Corey Maggette added 22, and Elton Brand finished with 21, leading the struggling Los Angeles Clippers to a 103-89 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.

The Clippers showed some spark after losing seven of their first nine games this month. They began the night ninth in the Western Conference, a game behind Golden State, but they looked like a team that isn't about to go away quietly.

Mobley, Brand and Maggette made sure of that.

Mobley went 8-for-16, while Brand haunted his former team early on, hitting his first five shots and scoring the Clippers' first 10 points. He was 9-of-14 from the floor and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Maggette hit 14 of 17 foul shots.

The Bulls took their second straight loss and once again they fell to a team with a losing record. After falling by one at Memphis on Saturday, the Bulls found little comfort at home, where they are 25-9.

Kirk Hinrich hit six of his first seven shots and finished with 29 points. Ben Wallace matched a season-high with 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, but the Bulls couldn't put together a run in the fourth quarter.

Two free throws by Maggette and a banked jumper by Daniel Ewing gave the Clippers an 82-78 lead with 7:13 remaining. And after blocking Hinrich's pull-up jumper from behind, Chris Kaman made it a six-point game with 6:16 left.

With the score 90-85, Ewing hit a 3-pointer that buried the Bulls with 1:16 remaining, and Maggette added two free throws 10 seconds later.

Dunleavy
CLIPPERS HEAD COACH MIKE DUNLEAVY:
On their play tonight….
"We have been playing well of late and on this whole trip but it has just not been showing up in victories. Tonight we did a good job moving the ball especially in the 2nd half. I'm really pleased with that and now we just need to finish up this trip on a positive note."

On his bench's play...
"Our bench gave us a big lift. Ewing did a lot of the little things- 6 deflections in the 4th quarter stretched the defense. Chris Kaman in the 4th quarter also got 4 deflections and some big rebounds. It gave Elton Brand a break for the strech. All these wins are huge for us now especially on the road."

Mobley
CLIPPERS GUARD CUTTINO MOBLEY:
On their play tonight...
"We moved the ball around tonight. It's hard to guard all of us when we do that. With Elton and Corey and the other guys we always have some scoring out there. I'm happy with the way we're playing now. If we continued everything will work out well for us."

On the 4th quarter and their defense...
"We had some huge stops in the 4th quarter. the guys were just playing well together in the post and out on top. We didn't plan anything for guarding Ben (Gordon). Ben's a really player good player. We attacked them and when you do that, they have to adapt. We didn't have any emphasis on Ben Gordon, he's one of the most talented young guys around. howevefr, you have to guard Kirk at the same time which is what we planned. We've had a tough beginning but have a system now and are really punishing guys. We've had games in San Antonio and Houston. If we just keep on moving the ball around we'll be OK."

Brand
CLIPPERS FORWARD ELTON BRAND:
On the road trip...
"We deserved to win. We played well at Houston and were leading with 2 minutes to go and lost. We were leading New Jersey with 2 minutes to go and lost. It's been a disappointing road trip with how well we've played. It was imperative that we got this win. We've been playing well but it hasn't correlated into wins. We have to turn playing well into wins. If we win tomorrow it will be a good trip. Not a great trip, but a good trip.

On starting the game well...
"I want to start well. On the road I've had several good 2nd halves but have not gotten off to good starts. Coach came to me and told me to be more aggressive from the start."

Skiles
BULLS HEAD COACH SCOTT SKILES:
"They played better than us in a lot of facets of the game. It appeared they wanted it more than we did, and as a result they got a win they deserved."

On setting the tone with defense...
"I thought Elton Brand hit his first 5 makes and 4 were tought shots, turnarounds and we were on him. It was the other things. They were coming out of time outs getting what they wanted. We were slow off the ball on the weak side. Our awareness was not great. You don't want to pencil in Elton's points, but when he makes shots like that there is not much you can do. After that start I thought we did a decent job on him."

On the Clippers' perimeter play...
"The guy who really hurt us was Magette, just his drive and getting fouled. We had a hard time on his right hand. He is a hard right hand driver who does not go left very much. We just had a hard time processing that tonight."

On following the game plan...
"There is no question if you watch us play, there is a level of inspiration that we need to play with and we have not played that way for a while. As a result we do not look like the same team. It has been that way the last several games."

On Ben Gordon...
"It looked like he faked a lot of shots. I thought maybe he should have just let some shots go."

On the offense...
"Kirk had a nice offensive game and Ben Wallace was good again tonight. Generally we need 4 guys to have a great offensive game, but we missed out on offense by not getting stops and getting out on transition and getting easy baskets. Almost everything we did tonight was just in the half court."

Hinrich
BULLS GUARD KIRK HINRICH:
"For most of the game, we got out-executed. They played well. We had our chances. We were right there. We just didn't execute very well, and they played pretty well."

On the Clippers' defense...
"Yeah, they definitely picked it up. Early, it felt like we were getting things pretty easily. As the game went on, they really stepped up their defense. We just weren't able to execute. They're a good team and they have good players. If you don't execute in the NBA, a lot of times you don't win."

On Cuttino Mobley...
"He's been playing well lately. They do a good job of mixing it up with Maggette, Brand and Cuttino. They execute really well. They make shots, and make big plays."

On getting out of the rut...
"We need to get back to our foundation. We have to hang our hat on our defense. We haven't been playing very well lately, and teams have been shooting a high percentage."
