The Los Angeles Clippers Foundation today announced a $15,000 local donation to The Dream Center in Echo Park for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

The Dream Center, through donated transportation, has committed to receiving 300 evacuees from the Gulf Coast region over the next several days and is preparing to feed, house and provide clothing for as long as they need. The center will also help place children in Los Angeles area schools, get identification and find jobs for evacuees as well as work to reunite the survivors with loved ones with whom they’ve lost contact.

To augment the Foundation’s donation, Clippers’ front office employees also made personal donations. Over $1100 was collected among members of the LAC front office and donated to the American Red Cross. Additionally, the Clippers will also provide a substantial donation of shoes and clothing to the families at the center.

The Clippers also announced that forward Chris Wilcox and guards Cuttino Mobley and Sam Cassell are scheduled to take part in the NBA Players Hurricane Relief Game hosted by TNT analyst Kenny Smith on Sunday, September 11th at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. The game will be televised nationally on TNT at 11:00 p.m. Pacific.

We encourage all fans to support the relief efforts by donating to Red Cross via their local chapters or online at http://www.redcross.org.
